Internal Communications Manager

Aurora Energy provides electricity and natural gas throughout Tasmania and is expanding into national markets.  We are currently in an exciting growth phase and are looking for someone with proven experience in leading communications, social media, public relations and/or journalism to join our Corporate Affairs & Sustainability Group within the Strategy and Corporate Affairs Division.

The Role:

In this role, you will draw on your excellent written communication skills, strategic communication experience and social media knowledge to lead internal communications within Aurora.  Reporting to the Group Manager Corporate Affairs & Sustainability, you will work across the business to help build employee engagement, develop social media tools through alignment to key business strategies. 

You will manage a small team to deliver daily intranet news and a monthly newsletter to all employees, while also managing the direction and priority of intranet based communications within the company.  You will be responsible for high-level communications for Aurora's executives and CEO and work with the Public Relations Manager to align external and internal communications.

The ideal candidate:

To be successful in this role you will have the following skills/experience:

  • Strong written/oral communications skills and proven editing skills
  • Ability to write strategies to enhance communications and communication vehicles
  • Ability to manage people and foster stakeholder relationships across the business
  • Manage priorities and meet deadlines
  • Ability to manage monthly editorial agendas for communications
  • Lead social media concepts and strategies for Aurora
  • Well developed interpersonal & relationship building skills
  • An understanding of Aurora's purpose and its business objectives
  • A broad knowledge of the energy supply industry would be highly regarded.
  • Advanced MS Office skills and demonstrated skills in digital graphics based applications and IT tools including web 2.0 & Vista
  • Tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline
